Sara Soulati is inventor of the patent-pending Sara Soulati Health for Life program, a lifestyle modification and disease prevention and reversal program.
She has been educating people about appropriate plant-based nutrition throughout her life, and in her program she shares about the importance of alkaline pH balance for overall good body health.
What Is pH Balance?
Do you remember high school chemistry when you put a piece of litmus paper into vinegar? And, the paper turned pink? The vinegar was acidic, and that means the pH level of vinegar is 0 — the most acidic.
If the paper had turned blue, then that substance would be considered alkaline. On the pH scale of 0-14, 7 is neutral.
Our body is like its own ecosystem with a variety of enzymes that work together to keep a proper balance. The best pH balance in the body is close to neutral, about 7.4, on the alkaline side of neutral. When its balance is askew, then people get sick.
Why People Get Sick: It Could Be Acid
Many people are ill; yet, few think about the foods she or he consumes. If you have a diet rich in acidic foods, then your gut and microflora are extremely unhappy.
There are studies linking over-acidic environments to the formation of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
The symptoms of having a too-acidic body are:
- Constant fatigue
- Shortness of breath
- Frequent sighing
- Muscle pain or cramping after short distance
- A feeling like lack of oxygen
The Sara Soulati Health for Life Program
In the Sara Soulati Health for Life Program, Sara Soulati recommends vegetable juicing to help the body remain alkaline. It’s OK to use fruits in juicing, but not every day. The fiber in the whole fruit will help absorb the fructose for blood sugar; however, a healthy combination of vegetables in juicing is best.
When you eat alkaline foods, the colon remains healthy. It’s so important to eliminate toxins and waste from the colon, lymph system, kidney, liver, and skin, too. When you eat a diet rich in plant-based foods, you are helping deter heart disease, diabetes, and other illnesses that often begin in the intestinal tract.
A diet rich in vegetables and fruits is so important to your overall health. And, please understand, Sara Soulati doesn’t recommend that you diet! When you blend appropriate exercise, even 30 minutes daily of brisk walking, with a plant-based nutrition program and hydration, then you will see weight loss occur. When you eliminate toxins from the body, such as processed foods, sugars, saturated fats, caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine, your body will thank you!
With these toxic “foods” you are creating an acidic environment in your body; one that is ripe for disease. Your lifestyle should be alkaline, neutral pH, and the way to understand that is to study the foods you ought to include.
Lastly, you must listen to your body!!
If you eat pasta with tomato sauce and you experience acid re flux, don’t ingest a tablet to settle your stomach — avoid the acidic food! Your gut is unhappy, and these are the ways you need to listen to your body tell you not to eat acidic foods.
